Quick question for you - I am doing "Holes" this fall, the same as the book and movie if you're familiar with either. Anyway, I have to come up with an effect...there are these lizards, and when they appear at the end of the play it is pre-dawn, we don't see them at first and suddenly (possibly in the beam of a flashlight) we do see them. I need to research a few different solutions for this - possibly using UV paint and blacklight (though the director doesn't want that because he doesn't like how it works, and I don't really want to turn off all stage lights in order to make the one effect work), possibly using LED's, etc. Any ideas?
Not knowing what the aesthetic of the production is, its hard to really give suggestions.
Depending on your budget, the UV could be a good way to go. The Wildfire fixtures are quite powerful and may be alble to cut through other stage lights, though I do not know in practice.
LED's are not that bright, but could work if the ques were balanced properly.
